How to Identify a Heavy Equipment Part by Its Number

Ordering the wrong spare part costs time and money. On heavy equipment, the surest way to get the correct component is the part number — the code cast, stamped or printed on the part itself or on its original packaging.

Where to find the part number

Look on the body of the component, on any metal or paper tag, or on the box it came in. Cummins, JCB, Perkins, Bobcat, Komatsu and Caterpillar all print an OEM number on genuine parts. If the number is worn, a clear photo of the part usually lets our team identify it.

One part, several numbers

The same physical part can carry more than one number — a manufacturer number, a superseded number, and an aftermarket equivalent. That is why a cross-reference lookup matters: it maps every equivalent number to the same component.

  • Note the full number exactly, including dashes.
  • Include the machine model and serial if you have it.
  • Send a photo when the marking is unclear.

Get it matched and quoted
